If you’re looking for a polished professional bio, I’ve got one—but let’s be honest: you probably didn’t come here for that.
I’m Erv Lenzy. I’m a counselor by trade, a writer by instinct, and the kind of guy who keeps a cold Dr. Pepper within arm’s reach at all times. I’ve been licensed in Ohio since 2018, with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marshall University. Most days I’m just trying to figure out how to help people heal without sounding like a walking brochure.
I live in Cincinnati, where the history runs deep, the chili defies explanation, and the city is quietly haunted by forgotten stories few people thought to write down. I make videos about local history, mental health, recovery, faith, and whatever else happens to be stuck in my head that week. Sometimes I podcast. Sometimes I dig around in old archives. Sometimes I just try not to get in my own way (a work in progress).
What ties it all together? I believe in empathy. In telling the truth, even when it’s messy. In helping people rebuild, not into something shiny and perfect, but into something honest and whole. Whether I’m writing sci-fi about grief and redemption (The Primus Saga is coming along… slowly), talking about emotional survival on one of my attempts to create a podcast (like Unquiet Men), or digging into forgotten family stories, the goal’s the same: make something that matters.
If you’re here, maybe you’re looking for a voice that feels human. Or maybe you just clicked the wrong link. Either way, glad you stopped by.

🎙️ Fun Facts About Erv
- Once built an entire podcast episode around the disappearance of my great-grandfather Charlie, who faked his death in 1912. It’s a ride.
- Favorite scripture lately: “Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands.” (D&C 121:9)
- Currently developing a sci-fi novella about a character who doesn’t believe in redemption… and writing it to prove him wrong.
- I accidentally grew some massive tomato plants one year. Yes, it happened. Yes, I know how. No, I’m not telling you.
- I honestly believe that Star Trek II, III, and IV form one of the greatest movie trilogies of all time. Prove me wrong.
- I know entirely too much about Cincinnati history—specifically the forgotten graveyards that now have schools and apartment buildings on top of them. People don’t ask questions. I do.
Still figuring it out, one day—and one Dr. Pepper—at a time.
